Who didn’t hear about Soleá Morente? The flamenco singer who’s changing the Spanish music scene recently came to visit us to our rooftop bar in Malaga. In front of the amazing Alcazaba’s fortress, she told us about her news and her innovative music style in Canal Sur TV show Vaya Verano.

This artist, a reference for flamenco in Malaga, combines music styles like rock or pop with flamenco in an amazing way. In her last music record Ole Lerelei she also collaborated with the group Napoleón Solo. She has come to Malaga with them on the occasion of the 2018 Terral Music Festival. This event gathers varied singers who make the hot summer nights in Malaga more pleasant, and it takes place in one of the city’s cultural hot spots: Teatro Cervantes’ iconic building.

Soleá Morente talked about this unique music style she intends to develop in one of our Malaga rooftops. Decades ago, his father Enrique Morente gave a special touch to flamenco collaborating with other compositors like Leonard Cohen. He was even inspired by Federico García Lorca’s poems. Now his daughter wants to follow a similar path to give Spanish flamenco a new focus.

Flamenco in Malaga: Art’s Meeting Point

Stating that Flamenco in Malaga is alive is a tangible reality, as well as crediting Solea Morente with breathing new life to flamenco, because when she sings, you can feel how she’s putting her soul into every word. Our city in constant evolution doesn’t lose flamenco’s essence and offers multiple activities related to such distinctive and genuine music style. In the last week of June, the “Ciudad de Málaga” Flamenco Festival took place. After thirty-nine years, it remains a meeting point for flamenco lovers in Malaga. At the bottom of Malaga Alcazaba and in front of Teatro Romano, a set of lights turned Alcazabilla street into a magical show for two nights, something that could be seen from our excellent rooftop bar in Malaga. A real treat!

Would you like to enjoy our rooftop’s astonishing view? Maybe the music is still in the air and means an inspiration for you. It could even come to light your inner creativity.
